On August 19, 2024, Mr. Kennimrod Sariburaja, Director of the Research and Publications Division at the Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism (SEARCCT), was invited by Yayasan Hasanah to deliver a public awareness lecture to Malaysian undergraduates and postgraduates sponsored by the foundation. These students are preparing to pursue their studies in Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The lecture, titled “Introduction to Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism in Malaysia,” was designed to equip students with the knowledge necessary to build a robust mental firewall against extremist ideologies. Mr. Sariburaja emphasised the critical importance of awareness in understanding how terrorist groups recruit and radicalise individuals, particularly those who may feel vulnerable or isolated while studying abroad. The session offered valuable insights into identifying and resisting terrorist propaganda, underscoring the need for vigilance and informed action both online and offline. He also encouraged students to cultivate a sense of responsibility and resilience in confronting these threats.

Overall, Mr. Sariburaja was warmly welcomed by Mdm. Azlina Jaffar, Senior Manager of Scholarships. The session concluded with closing remarks by Mr. Mohd Syazwi Mohd Rafee, Senior Executive from the Programme Coordination Department, marking the end of a successful and informative event.
