On 16 July 2025, Mr. Kennimrod Sariburaja, Director of Research and Publications
at the Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism (SEARCCT), deliver a talk at the Royal Malaysian Police College in Kuala Lumpur. His lecture, titled “Artificial Intelligence (AI): Emerging Trends in Terrorism,” explained how new technologies like deepfakes, AI chatbots, and fake online content are being misused by terrorist groups to spread lies, confuse people, and attract followers, especially on the internet. He also talked about how far-right extremism, online youth culture, and even memes are being used to quietly influence and pull in younger people. These newer methods show how extremist groups are constantly changing how they operate to target digital-savvy audiences.
