Datin Paduka Nur Ashikin Mohd Taib, Director General of SEARCCT, received a courtesy visit from the Nigerian delegation comprising participants of the Executive Intelligence Management Course (EIMC 18) of the Nigeria National Institute for Security Studies (NISS). The delegation of 20 officers was led by Mr. Joseph Obule Odama, Commandant of the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), together with H.E. Ambassador Ibrahim Danlami, Chargé d’Affaires of the High Commission of Nigeria in Malaysia.
The visit was also joined by representatives from the Counter-Terrorism Division (E8), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), ACP Sufian bin Ali and team.
During the meeting, both sides engaged in meaningful discussions on strengthening cooperation in counter-terrorism and preventing/countering violent extremism (P/CVE). The dialogue explored issues such as non-state actors, terrorism financing, ongoing peacebuilding initiatives by SERACCT and PDRM, as well as the complex security challenges in the Tri-Borders area of Sabah and the current counter-terrorism challenges and preventive initiatives in Nigeria. It also touched on the spill-over effects of violent extremism and related cases from neighbouring countries and how best to address these cross-border concerns through greater bilateral and multilateral collaborations and knowledge-sharing.
This exchange reflects SEARCCT’s continued commitment to fostering international partnerships and advancing collective efforts to promote peace, stability, and security.
