As part of the ongoing LEARN Project (Leveraging Educators Against Radical Narratives), the final four-day Training of Trainers Workshop for School Liaison Officers (Pegawai Perhubungan Sekolah, PPS) took place in Johor Bahru from 8-11 September 2025, bringing together passionate PPS officers from Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Pahang, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Sabah.
The workshop opened with remarks by Supt. Ra’ayim Hj. Jemakir (JPJKK, Bukit Aman) and Mr. Asrul Daniel Ahmed, National Project Director of LEARN, who both underscored the vital role of PPS in safeguarding schools and protecting youth from radicalisation. Participants honed their skills in spotting early signs of extremism, countering radical narratives, and building youth resilience–complemented by hands-on Police Communication training, interactive sessions on “The Power of Role Models,” and exposure to the latest AI tools for innovative community engagement.
We were also honoured by the presence of the inspiring #PopularCop, SAC Datuk Nik Ezanee bin Mohd Faisal, who shared his valuable insights on community policing and counter-terrorism. The programme concluded with a closing ceremony officiated by YBrs. Ambassador Zamani Ismail, Deputy Director-General I, SEARCCT, who commended participants’ dedication and emphasised the power of continued collaboration to protect and empower our youth.
A big thank you to our amazing partners; Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), UNDP Malaysia, and the Ministry of Education (MOE); for their unwavering support in equipping PPS officers to create safer schools and stronger, more resilient communities.
